We were instructed by a client in relation to a claim against a Maternity Hospital in Dublin. Our client delivered her child naturally. However, the hospital failed to detect that a portion of the placenta was missing.
As a result, after she was discharged, our client experienced prolonged secondary postpartum haemorrhaging and attended the Emergency Department of the same hospital on a number of occasions. Eventually, our client underwent a further procedure to remove the retained products of conception.
We issued proceedings in the High Court on behalf of our client. The case settled for €52,500 plus costs prior to a hearing date being obtained.
