What you need to know about car accident whiplash claims

Cars are manufactured to ease our life in transportation and we’re in them numerous times a day. With the frequency with which we use them, it is no surprise that so many people experience an accident at least once throughout their life.

When it comes to accidents, whiplash is one of the most common injuries that can occur. This is because you can suffer from whiplash even when a sudden brake is applied.

Whiplash which is also known as neck sprain or neck strain is defined as an injury to the neck, caused by an abrupt forward and backward movement of the head. In whiplash, the intervertebral joints (located between vertebrae), discs, ligaments, cervical muscles, and nerve roots may become damaged.

Car Accident Whiplash Claims:

Car whiplash accidents are widespread. In most cases, the insurance company of the driver who made an accident will pay your compensation. If the driver is doomed to be uninsured or untraceable, the claim will be pursued against the Motor Insurance Bureau. Some of the steps to claim for whiplash are explained below.

Collect Details about the Party:

When someone involved in the accident runs away or refuses to pay the claim, the victim can file an FIR about the incident and obtain a crime reference number. Certain details such as car registration number, name, and address of the person are required basically to start a claim.

Gather Evidence of the Accident:

Evidence is a crucial witness for the accident to file a strong case. It may be either a photograph, CCTV recordings, or eye witness reports.

Contact your insurance company about the accident within 24 hours, the insurer must inform the insurance company about the accident and explain what happened.

Seeking Medical Attention:

Whiplash doesn’t have a separate remedy to go for it. But it is very important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. At first, doctors will prescribe certain painkillers to relieve pain. If pain lasts more than ten days, then it is considered a serious injury.

Getting Legal Advice:

By having a solicitor on your side you will be in a much better position to know your next steps. Solicitors can help by supporting you with rehabilitation assistance. They can also provide you with the requirements and documents you will need if you have grounds to make a claim.

*In a contentious business, a solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement.
